Sculpture of Hope

Atlantic City Boardwalk Holocaust Memorial Competition

The Holocaust was the traumatic event that opened the world’s eyes to the cruelty of genocide and called upon our world to stand up and unite against such atrocities.

The Sculpture of Hope reminds us of the past, while providing opportunity to improve our future.

The sculpture is designed as a journey, using a sensory experience of architecture to elevate your awareness. The massive roughly textured concrete wall represents the Holocaust, beyond the wall you are drawn to walk inside a cold steel tunnel, plated with panels that signify the genocidal events that have continued through history. Slices of light dissipate across the tunnel, alluding to a brighter future. As you emerge from the confinement of the tunnel you are greeted by an open plaza that invites you to unite with others and pledge a commitment to end genocide.
